Dr. Pratik Shah oversees the activities of the Marlinspike Group. Dr. Shah was previously President and CEO of Auspex Pharmaceuticals. He first got involved in Auspex as an investor in 2007 and served as its Chairman or Executive Chairman at various points in time until he took over as its CEO in 2013. As CEO he took the company public and oversaw its growth until its eventual acquisition by Teva Pharmaceuticals for $3.5 billion in 2015. Pratik was a partner in the healthcare venture capital firm Thomas, McNerney & Partners for almost a decade starting in 2004, and has served on numerous boards, both private and public. Prior to joining Thomas, McNerney & Partners, he has co-founded two biotechnology companies and was also a consultant at McKinsey & Company in their San Francisco office. Pratik holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California at Irvine and both a Ph.D. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Chicago and also serves as a trustee on the Foundation Board of the University of California at San Diego.
